How does the coaching process work? First, we will have an initial phone conversation to briefly talk about your challenges and what it is that you want to gain from the coaching process. Then we will have an intake call. This call helps me to get to know you better. The whole "you", including your strengths, family life, work environment, etc. We dig into your frustrations during our weekly 50 min calls. You bring to the call a topic or concern you want to work through.
How long will it take? You've heard that change takes time and it's true. Right away you'll start learning more about yourself and understanding your brain in a deeper way. Real and lasting change will take time. 3 months is a minimum if you want the learning to truly take hold.
How did you get started in as a coach? At the age of 40, I was diagnosed with ADHD and it provided so much clarity to my life. It made sense why I couldn't stay organized, why I couldn't consistently do anything, why my intentions were often left undone, and so many other questions were answered. I dug into learning about ADHD, became organized and learned how to stay that way, so I became a Professional Organizer, specializing in helping clients with ADHD. But it wasn't until I really started to understand what executive functions are, and how they do not function in my brain, that I was able to become at peace with my brain. I am now a coach so that I can help others through that deeper learning. Learning about how their brain works and helping them create a life that works with their brain and stop fighting it.
What type of personality do you work best with? Clients who are open and honest and ready to do the work are the best matches for me.
What types of people are a good fit for your services? Are you ready to learn about yourself? Do you want to know why you do the things you do (or don't do, let's be honest!)? Are you ready to take that learning and figure out ways to work with your brain and stop fighting it? Then you are my people.
I have put in a lot of time learning about my brain. And then forgetting what I learned because I "should" be able to do it the way everyone says to do it. When I started working with a coach, it all started to fall into place. It's in the active process of exploring and engaging that I can then put into use strategies that actually work for me. It's not easy to stop "shoulding" all over yourself, but it becomes easier when you realize the shoulds are coming from people who don't understand how an ADHD brain works.
The key is putting in the work. Are you ready to learn and then go to work with that learning? Yes? Then we can work well together.
What do I need to do to prepare for our sessions? Technically, nothing. But you will benefit the most from the coaching time if you think about what you want to accomplish during the session. I provide a Pre-Session Update form and ask that you will it out 1-24 hours before our session. Completing this form helps you to identify what's most important to you in the moment.
Okay, I’m ready to do this for myself, but I have a couple additional questions. Excellent! I’d love to explain the process more and answer any questions you may have. Click here to schedule a free, 30 minute discovery call. I look forward to talking with you!
